Galesburg High School senior Emily Edwards has been named a Commended Student in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program, recognizing her outstanding academic performance and achievement on the 2025 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).

Each year, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) recognizes a select group of students who demonstrate exceptional academic promise. Commended students are among the highest-scoring participants in the nation but do not advance to the semifinalist level.

Emily is one of approximately 34,000 students nationwide to receive the 2027 Commended Student designation.

"Emily's recognition is a reflection of her hard work, dedication, and commitment to academic excellence," said Principal Jeff Ewing. "We are proud to celebrate this accomplishment with Emily and her family."
