Galesburg High School hosted Senior Night on October 7, 2026.  The event was larger this year and offered more information for Class of 2027 graduates. Students were able to visit with college representatives from Carl Sandburg College, Monmouth College, Knox College, Bradley University, St. Ambrose University, and Western Illinois University. The Illinois Department of Human Services was also available for questions. Many seniors took advantage of the opportunity to learn about the Galesburg Public School Foundation scholarship application and available scholarships. FAFSA completion was the priority for the over 30 families in attendance. With the help of financial aid partners from Knox College, Monmouth College, Carl Sandburg College, the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC), and TRIO Upward Bound Math-Science (UBMS) they were able to complete their FAFSA application. Food was also provided by 21st Century Scholars.

If you could not attend the FAFSA workshop, resources are still available to our students and their families. Please bookmark our Class of 2027 Website for additional information. Carl Sandburg College provides FAFSA assistance to all area students.  You can call their office at 309.341.5283 or visit their website at sandburg.edu/finaid to schedule an appointment.
We also have an ISAC representative who can assist students and their families:  Makenna.J.Schwab@illinois.gov

Please remember that every graduating senior must complete the FAFSA before receiving their diploma.  FAFSA completion is a state of Illinois graduation requirement.  Students and their families are able to meet the Illinois graduation requirement in one of three ways:
1) Complete the FAFSA: The Free Application for Federal Student Aid or
2) The Alternative Application: A free Application for students with specific citizenship status or
3) A Non-Completion Waiver: A free form for students and parents that wish to opt-out of completing a FAFSA application.

Before reaching out for FAFSA assistance, both the parent and student must create an FSA ID by visiting studentaid.gov.  The FSA ID is how you will log into FAFSA and may require verification prior to FAFSA completion.
