Key Club

“Key Club” is a student–led organization that teaches young people about leadership while simultaneously providing service to the local schools and the community. Galesburg Kiwanis Club works in conjunction with the 32 member GSHS Key Club.

Recently, 9 of the club members attended the District Convention Leadership Conference that was held at the Crown Plaza Hotel and Conference Center in Springfield, Illinois. The conference included mini break-out sessions as well as larger workshops for all attendees to participate in together. Student officers such as governor, secretary, and editor are also elected at the conference. According to club sponsor, Jenni Robinson, “The kids come back so excited after this weekend, full of ideas.  We already have a project to work on for May.”

Galesburg is part of Division 18/19 which includes several school districts in West Central Illinois and Eastern Iowa. Each year the Division elects a lieutenant governor, and for the past couple of years, that office has been held by a Galesburg High School student. Carter Bohm was elected to serve the club for the upcoming year, which was previously held by Ella Oligney-Estill.
