Dear Silver Streak families,

I hope everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable summer break. We are eager to welcome the students back on August 16th for an outstanding 2019-20 school year. Our administrative, custodial, and secretarial staff have been working throughout the summer months preparing the building for another amazing school year. There are several ways to keep up on what is going on at GHS.  The following are hyperlinks so that you can save the sites in your favorites tab on your computer:

·        Galesburg High School Website

·         Galesburg Area Vocational Website

·         Galesburg High School Athletics

·         District Website

I encourage all students to attend Locker Day on Tuesday, August 13th from 1 to 3.  You are welcome to come and locate your locker and classes.  I am thrilled to meet you and welcome you and your family to GHS.

Galesburg takes great pride in creating an educational atmosphere where students collaborate, communicate, think critically and create. Together our staff encourages students to engage in a lifelong love of learning. As we focus on student achievement we will provide a variety of academic and educational experiences that promote student growth and learning throughout the year. Our mission is to plan instruction that will give your son or daughter the skills and knowledge to become productive citizens.  During the upcoming school year I encourage you to take an active role in your teenager’s learning. Parental involvement plays a critical role in your student’s success.

Ways to support and increase your child’s academic success include:

  • Make attendance a priority including limiting tardiness and absences

  • Check Skyward regularly to stay informed of student progress (Skyward Family Access)

  • Communicate often with your child’s teachers

  • Attend your son/daughter's extracurricular and school-related activities.

The GHS Staff and I are looking forward to a great school year!

Silver Streak pride,

Jeff Houston
