Art and Letter Fun!

On Monday, August 19, first grade students at King Elementary started an art project that would continue with a fun letter "hunt" on Tuesday. The classes painted canvases donated by Dick Blick Art Materials. Students used their fingers to cover the canvases with paint, then let them dry over night.

The next day, students went on an letter hunt to find all the letters in their name. They had to look all over the classroom to find all the vowels and constants that made up their name.

The letters were then placed on the canvas and the art work will hang for the entire school year outside the classrooms. The activity is designed to foster ownership of the classroom and start to build a community in the classrooms.

The students were led by Mrs. Strecher, Mrs. Harshbarger and Ms. Scott. Great job, King 1st Grade Students!
