Student Athlete Wins Wendy's Award

April White named a Wendy's High School Heisman School Winner

October 25, 2017

There are some students who set the bar. They work harder, show more passion and lead by example—in the classroom, on the field and within the community. Recently, Wendy’s High School Heisman recognized April White from Galesburg High School and her dedication to never cutting corners by naming her a School Winner.

"April epitomizes the term 'student athlete'.  We are so excited that she was named a school finalist", shares Mindi Ritchie, Assistant Principal at Galesburg High School.

Since 1994, Wendy’s and the Heisman Trophy Trust have honored more than 600,000 of the nation’s most esteemed students. This year, Wendy’s will again celebrate the accomplishments of thousands of the best high school seniors, awarding winners in five phases.

School Winners receive a School Winner certificate and a Wendy’s High School Heisman Patch.  While April did not move on in the competition to the state finalist level, we remain incredibly proud of her accomplishments and drive both on and off the field.

April plans to attend Blackhawk College and play softball there.  After that she plans to pursue a bachelor of science degree at an undecided college.
